This level is to introduce the standalone Braille word signs. These are addressing early Braille literacy and tactile graphicacy, as well as guiding the parents through the basics of the UEB Braille Code. NEVER ask your child to guess the picture, always tell them what it is, then verbally explore the graphic together.
These Wordsigns should be introduced first to give the learner instant meaning from the dots. E.g. the word ‘like’ like is hard few new readers to decode. The contracted word ‘like’ l is much easier!
